Our History
VPF’s story spans more than a century. Since our foundation in 1922 by the textile family De Bock, we have gone through many changes that have made us the company we are today.
The beginning of VPF
Today, lampshades are the focus of VPF and everything involved in their production, but it was not always so. At its foundation, the focus was still on dyeing fabrics and manufacturing passements: decorative textile products such as ties, fringes, cords, and galloons. Hence our name: Verenigde Passementfabrieken Amsterdam. Yet much of the knowledge and experience from those days would come in handy later.
In the 1950s, VPF broke new ground and started laminating lampshade materials. Our many years of experience with fitting and dyeing fabrics came in handy in the laminating production process. This basis enabled us to guarantee high quality and to keep developing our materials.
VPF today: a modern family business
In 2002, Sjouke Vogel took over VPF from the De Bock family. Under his leadership, the company continued to grow as a producer of materials for lampshades, becoming a major player in the world of interior decoration and even a market leader in our segment.
Today, VPF is still a family business. Many of our employees and partners have been associated with VPF for years, and therein lies our strength. The largest manufacturers of lampshades enjoy working with us, but interior designers and architects also like to use our expertise and high-quality materials.
